Margaret, of the two. I like the clips the best. If I were using ties, I would either make them as invisible as possible - same color as fabric or clear nylon or very visible.
Hi Margaret. These are a little different from the grid panels I use but the idea is the same. I have made slipcovers out of cotton knit that I stretch over the top of the entire frame. This gives me a tight hanging surface on both sides. It looks like your panels are hinged. Just leave an opening in the side seams where the hinges are.
Have you considered velcro on the back so that the ties or clips don't distract from the art?Nicole Yardley
The clips look cleaner and less distracting than ties.
I think the tied version hangs better, but I agree with Nancy... I would use something that is nearly invisible or blend in so the ties don't draw the eye away from your beautiful art.
Clips. They look just a little tidier and less distracting from the art itself.
Hi, Margareth, I find the ties distracting. So out of the two possibilities you show, the clips would be best, if it's a temporary mounting. But I've also thought of velkro on the back, so it would look neat and neutral... Good luck!Tove :-)
Of the two options, I prefer the clips. But, I had the same thought about making the clips more invisible - can you paint them black if other colors aren't available. The suggestion of velcro sounds workable and simple. I am not sure if the sleeve idea would work on these panels but it would give you tightness. Perhaps you could velcro on the sides as well as the top to accomplish that.
I like the ties, especially with the piece you show here - adds to the organic nature of the art...Shelley Brucar
