Murphy's Law of Lost Articles (Give-away)

MLLA:  When you finally go out and buy something you thought you'd lost, you will find the original item.

Yep; it just happened to me.  After several months of looking everywhere in my wee house for my copy of Pamela Allen's Think Like an Artist (DVD), I ordered another copy.  It arrived Friday and I watched it yesterday afternoon as the weather snowed and I stitched.  Lovely to see it again -- and yes, I learned a couple of new things in the re-watch.

This afternoon I got down on my hands and knees to get a close look at my modem, preparatory to attaching my new wireless router for my new computer (laptop).  And there it was; the DVD, that is -- under my computer desk back near the outer wall, behind some books I'd stored under the desk.  None the worse for wear.

What's a girl to do?  Much as I admire Pamela, I don't need two copies of her DVD!  And so...I'm giving away my new (only watched once) copy, and putting my old (equally beloved) copy back on the shelf with its instructional and inspirational sisters.

Let's see...what say I use my friendly Random Sequence Generator to pick a recipient for me from any comments to THIS post between now and Wednesday, April 17 at 11:59 p.m..MDT (to be drawn Thursday a.m., at the start of my Very Busy Eleven Days).  And if you have an experience to relate about Murphy's Law of Lost Articles in your life, do share!

While I can't off-hand remember any specific Murphy's Law incidents, I have been known to buy things that I know I have but can't find. Seam rippers are a good example.
The DVD must be a good one if you went to the trouble to purchase it again.

oh, BTW. (I know you only want one post per person but I have to tell you that I won the Art Studio Quilting magazine a few months ago. I stuck it on my stack and finally got a chance to read it. How wonderfully inspiring. The quick flip was a so/so. But page by page reading and I was just sew blessed! Thank you. I'm sure the dvd would be a blessing also!

Margaret, the same issue that provides those experiences is giving me trouble remembering a specific example. LOL

My experience is that I look and look and look for whatever it is and it's not until I finally give up the search that it miraculously re-appears - it's as if a mischievous house gnome has spirited it away to torment or out of curiosity and only gives it back when I no longer play the game of hide and seek. I am pleased he gives it back - usually.

I must put my name down for this giveaway:) Murphy's Law was written for me...LOL

I gave away my son's childhood books recently (sons now 32 and 37) because I really didn't think they would be used again as they were books geared towards little boys. Guess what? My son phones me last week looking for his old Richard Scarry books for my granddaughter. Typical.

I once thought students were stealing things from my desktop over the period of several months when I kept losing items like CD's small books, etc. And then once I couldn't close the bottom desk drawer and I pulled out the drawer and found every missing item stuck behind the bottom drawer. Apparently every time I closed the top drawer, things from there fell out the back of it down to the area at the bottom of the desk. I felt so foolish and also so relieved that no one was a thief.
