1001: A Stitch Odyssey*

* With apologies to Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke!  I think I'm a bit giddy with all this anniversary stuff!

This post isn't extra-terrestrial in the least; it's simply about what's moved off the (design) wall and onto my desk.

"Tree Line"'s been quilted and is now in the beading stage -- with those beads auditioned (above) to give the impression of leaves. What you see in the photo are loose beads, some clustering more than they will in the final piece, and some less.  It's slow going, but I think I'm managing the look I want.  The piece was very flat until I introduced the beads, and I'm still concerned that the brown grassy area is a bit on the flat side, so some hand-stitching may follow...

Meanwhile, I get to enjoy this slow, meditative process while listening to music (my fave -- classical -- on CBC Radio 2) and/or pod-casts (after the classical programs give way to 'pop' later this afternoon)...and then tonight, Bonnie Hunter has promised Quilt Cam!

And I'm doing a bit of blog reading as I link up to Nina-Marie's Off the Wall Friday.

What?  You don't stitch and read at the same time?  ;-)

Don't forget, comments on any and all posts this week render you eligible for the first anniversary Goodie Pack drawing on Friday, Feb. 15...Click HERE for details.

Tree Line is amazing. I wish I could make something like that.

Just stopped by from Nina Marie's. And yes, very interesting your approach to leaves. Lovely effect.

An interesting piece. I look forward to seeing it finished. I shovelled a couple of times today so I'm giving my hands a rest and will just use the sewing machine. Being snowed in kinda makes you want to stay cozy and warm inside.

I'm curious to see what you do with those beads... I have attempted to use beads as leaves once in the past, but didn't get the affect I was looking for. Can't wait to see what you're going to do!

Looks like you have quite some beading time ahead of you - will be fun to see the finished result !

Your trees are wonderful, I am partial to tree images myself. I will be interested to see the beading progress.

ohhh I love the trees! You know what I do - I make a deal with myself that if I sew all weekend I can spend a couple of hours reading OTWFri on Sunday night! Its such a treat!

I am finally edging back into blog mode, Margaret. Happy Anniversary. Love the blue in the quilt - premonition of spring!
