For a couple of years we  watched 'em every week, with their up-beat music and crazy antics.  They weren't about heavy political stuff, they just wanted to have fun.   Yes, they were a 'put together' group, intended just for the program in which they starred, but they clicked -- and ended up being a "real" band.

In a decade that got darker before it ended, with war and assassinations and chaos, before rock and roll got harder and tougher, The Monkees brought us light, life and laughter.  

Davy and his cohorts helped us believe in our daydreams.  May he rest in peace.
