Off to a Slow Start

I began with high hopes yesterday afternoon, as I crocheted a cast-on and managed -- albeit slowly -- a pretty folded picot edge from the Wise Knitter at Purlwise.com. Alas, my joy quickly dissipated into frustration as the pattern bested me. After three -- count 'em -- three attempts, I discovered I'd misread the pattern...

Happy ending: I am now off and -- er -- knitting!
