This Time, a Few Tears

I feel like I knew this man, this artist, though I never met him.  He was close friends of the father of a good friend of mine, my singing partner at church.  Even before I knew that -- or her -- I was getting his twice-weekly letters and treasuring what he had to say about art and art-making, which 'worked' not only for painters but for artists in all media.

Robert Genn - May 15, 1936 - May 27, 2014

Thank you, Mr. Genn, for your work, your passion, your sense of humour, and your wonderful ability to bring all that to the page so that you could share it all with us.  Artists around the globe will miss you.  May your family and close friends find comfort in memories, and know that you are now painting from an even wider venue.  God bless.

I just discovered his newsletter this year. He has such a great testimony to living with a soul wide open.

You don't have to meet someone, in person, for them to have a lasting influence on your life. Your tribute is beautiful. I hope you share it with his family.

Even though we knew it was coming, it was still so sad to hear from his daughter that he was gone.

I was so saddened by his death. His letters felt personal, and that says so much about his spirit.
Thank you for posting about him.
