Uniquely Albertan

While I was busy collecting bed quilt materials, my friend and colleague, arlee, was making an art  quilt.  Turns out, she and over four hundred more artists were involved with  the Alberta Flood Rose Project.

I knew she'd been working on a piece to do with our provincial flower, the Alberta Wild Rose, but didn't realize just what that was till tonight...when she posted a conversation on Facebook that made it clear for me.  (You can visit the Project's Facebook page HERE.

I won't be in Calgary to participate in the auction (it's an in-person event only, as far as I know, but details are pending), but I do hope to see it if it gets as far as Red Deer on its post-auction tour.

Congratulations to all the participants, and may the auction bring much needed funding to the Red Cross for all those affected by the flooding in Southern Alberta in June.

Oh, my. I just had a look through the gallery. Stunning work. It's great to see some fibre artists in there, too. Would be amazing to see the whole collection in person. I'm sure you will let us know if you get to see it.
