Just finished this prayer shawl for my friend S this morning, and it's gone into the hamper to be washed (it's Schachenmayr Nomotta's 'Extra Tweed', a super-wash wool/viscose blended yarn) in dark navy with a white fleck. The pattern is the "Sabbath Shawl" from The Prayer Shawl Companion (Janet Bristow and Victoria A. Cole-Galo, The Taunton Press, 2008), and was designed by Susan Izard and her daughter, Catherine.
And last weekend I resurrected these socks from where they'd been languishing with Serious Second Sock Syndrome. They are for my friend M, who has just returned to hospital for treatment of leukemia brought on subsequent to chemotherapy for breast cancer a few years ago. I'd finished one sock when she went into remission following those treatments, and have decided it's time to finish the pair and send them to her ASAP. The pattern, Hope Socks, is from The Eclectic Sole (Rustling Leaf Press, 2008), and was designed by the author, Janel Laidman.

It is very kind from you to knit the shawl and the socks for your friends. It is a nice way to tell them how much you care about them :) They are lucky to have you.
That shawl looks comfy, Margaret. We must be in the same mood. I spent yesterday working on some WIPs myself - feels good to be getting off my floor, design wall, table, etc.
