Another Loss to the Music World

Levon Helm, drummer for the iconic Canadian group, The Band, has died in New York at age 71, after a battle with cancer.

The Band was a great favourite of my husband and me, and I can sing along fairly easily to many of their tunes. At one point, they teamed up with Bob Dylan to co-write several songs, including one of my very favourites, I Shall Be Released.

Mr. Helm, this may have been your Last Waltz, but your contribution to The Band's timeless rock-a-billy music will long be remembered.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hmmm... Maybe I'll hear him on CBC radio this weekend? Fri or Sat night? I'm sure Randy will play him. : )

All the best,

My husband and I just watched The Last Waltz movie - and were so impressed with seeing the energy from Levon Helm.

This is a loss.
