Preserving Heritage

I'm on an e-mail list for Twisted Thread, the folks in the UK who co-ordinate the Festival of Quilts and the Knitting and Stitching Show, among other textile-related events.  Today they sent me an e-mail about voting for the Quilt Guild in their bid to win funding from the National Lottery Awards over there.  In light of Nancy Bavor's recent lecture at the SAQA Conference, about the care and feeding of quilts following the death of a quilter, I visited National Lottery Good Causes - The National Lottery Awards - Best Heritage Project - Unfolding the Quilts and cast my vote.

Passing on the skills of quilting, knitting, spinning and handwork are important -- but the job would be incomplete without sharing with the next generation(s) the wonderful history and heritage of these skills and their end-products.  Won't you vote too?
