What a Mess!

Empty cars derailed

The big news around here yesterday was the train derailment up Highway 21 at Bashaw.  Apparently, the train clipped a large gravel truck; the driver was injured, but not seriously so.  One of the cars was full of grain, which spilled out in quantity, and several empty cars were derailed into a bit of a tangle.

My girlfriend, B lives there -- she was on her way home from Stettler at the time, arriving about an hour after the accident, and had to go miles out of her way to get home. (She sent me the photo at left.)   That put the kybosh on our getting together yesterday afternoon...but I made it up in the evening after Highway 21 was opened.  They (RCMP, CN staff) were still hard at work on the mess when I came home at around 9 p.m.
